london
I did not realise this festival was on and only knew about it when it was written up in this website tired of london
I like seeing stuff esp if they are designed with form and function in mind. and most of the events are free to attend. the main one is at the V&A (victoria and albert) musuem.
There will be a sound box built in trafalgar square which sounds interesting.
i am also going to the designersblock and designjunction (both require u to book online, but it is free and u can print out the ticket at the library if u dont have a printer)and singapore popup shop . the latter has a event on 24sept at 7pm which i am attending too. not sure what it is but it sounds fun.
This one sounds interesting. it is a keepcup
in their popup shop near shoreditch(where is that?).it sounds like a long way away, and shoreditch high street tube is difficult to get to if u come from central london; but it is really the north end of brick lane, and u can get walk to brick lane from liverpool st tube. ie if u are coming from central london like any sensible person would. haha. i think if u buy a cup u will get free coffee to drink from it.
though myself would like a collapsible cup. you dont see any nowadays. i saw one in a charity shop, it was made of metal rings and collapsible. v useful, but i did not buy it. hmm maybe i should have but my soul obviously did not . it was more than £1 that was why i did not buy it. it is not something u must have . come to think of it, not many things in life u must have. haha.
There are a lot of events . this is when having a smart phone is useful to find the location from the londondesign website.
Added. 7.45pm Saw a new entry in the pink paper website that they are closing it down.
looks like they cannot get enough advertising to pay for it. the paper closed its print publishing long ago, and now even the website cannot pay its way. the company publishes GayTimes (which they have renamed GT so that it do not sound so gay)and Diva. both are print magazines.
it is a bit of history ending actually. i remember coming out on the gay scene long ago and getting the pink paper to find out what is going on . it was given away free in the gay coffee shops like first out (which is no more ) and we got our gay news from them.
Ah well, times change dont they and the way we access the gay news have changed too. for one thing, gay news have gone mainstream. and we have the internet for everything now.
in the past people have to advertise in the free gay papers but now we can set up our own blogs and websites.
i can remember long ago reading the short adverts by guys looking for other guys in the pink paper adverts, but that is old hat now.
Added. 21.12.12 i was browsing somewhere and saw this link pinknews.co.uk
so it is ok then one gay newswebsite goes and another takes its place.
