lots of nice things have been happening to me

london
Actually my life is always v good anyway but this week quite a lot of stuff have been happening that are very pleasant.
my soul must want it haha.

anyway it began a week ago when my laptop charger gaveup the ghost and died on me. it has been acting up with a loose wiring, which made the connection come and go unless i move the lead about to find the position when a current will flow.

anyway i have been asking friends for a spare charger but no one seem to have them. i myself have laptops before which have conked out but never thought to keep the charger.
simon also had gone through a number of laptops which comes with their chargers but never knew what happened to the chargers when the laptop gave up.

This is my 2nd laptop , simon has used up many more than me.he is on his 4th one.

anyway, i used my free travel pass to go to brick lane and the first electronic shop i went to  have this charger. i gave him the old one to copy and he took out an acer charger. it only costs £15. my limit was £20, and in fact i was at the tottenham court road area which is famous for its computer shops yesterday and they wanted £30 and wont reduce.
and here was this at half price. so i did not bargain and bought it. i had thought of getting a charger in the charity shops but there are none to be had and this price is as good as any.

the guy in the shop was real professional. i like his way of doing business and would highly recommend him and the shop. the thing is when i look at the invoice,to find the address... there was no address of the shop . haha so i cannot tell you where it is except it is on brick lane or somewhere near it.
just as well the charger works because if it did not i am not sure i can find the shop again. haha.

it would have been £20 if the cable with plug was included, but i have that so no need to buy that.

so now i am online without having to wait for simon to come home from his mother's so i can use his charger. haha. Though today i could use his charger as he had left it behind having taken his laptop to work.

i thought of going to currys at victoria to buy the charger, and when i went there, the store looked empty and i asked the shop assistant jokingly are u closing down. to my surprise he said yes, and that it is closing finally on 13sept. later i saw signs outside in the windows saying the same thing.

i think these shops are badly hit by the online shopping and now that i have seen brick lane, they get competition from small businesses that are undercutting them.

when i went to tottenham court road, i saw lots of empty shop fronts where all these computer shops used to be.

before i got this charger when i cannot get online at home,i had to go to the library to access my mail. The only downside is that the library blocks the gay website i belong to, and so i could not gain access to that. i could receive messages as they reroute it to my email, but i cannot reply to or send messages.

in the past i am online a lot and used to spend a lot of time indoors online; i found out  i did not miss the online stuff because i have been roaming around  london quite a lot lately.

Added. 13.9.12 isn't it just typical of life. yesterday i was looking for vit C tablets, and found 2 of simon's old chargers. they were dell chargers and are a higher wattage than the acer charger. hmm, not sure if they are suitable for my laptop. i would try them if i had found them earlier, and they might work and that would have saved me buying this. ah well, life!!

i went to the highgate naked sunbathing area on friday, when there was a heat wave and it was v nice.
got to chatting with a few guys there and i can see that if i go regularly i shall make friends.
the weather is dicey though. like today, it is all cloudy and dull. that time i went was like 28C. too hot really. but now i shall go more often.  next time it is a sunny day i shall go there again.

i noticed that the walls surrounding the naked sunbathing area have been changed. before it comes right to the ground no gap underneath to allow air to circulate. this time there was a gap so it was cooler with a breeze.

it is quite a track to get there, but i now know that i can get a tube to camden and there take two buses the c2 or the 214.

i found out i can get free swimming at the queen mum sports centre. quite by accident, i only went in to enquire about their entry fee to the swimming.

it is just wonderful to be able to go swimming there free though i am v careful when i went for the first time this morning not to bring anything valuable or extra. i got robbed last time i went there, someone opened my locker.

this time i noticed they have new lockers. so maybe that wont happen. still i shall play safe and never bring anything unneccesary to that place.

i have been seeing this tv program about old people having a drinking problem as they go old.
old people actually have it real good in london anyway and should not really complain.

joan bakewell investigated it and found out it was true. i dont drink so i dont really understand why they want to drink, but then this country everyone drinks, and they always say ' i shall have a drink to steady my nerves' or anything happen they say they want a drink.

i would drink tea, but these guys will drink liquor. if u have a culture like that no wonder they go on drinking when they retire. nothing to do but drink .

even joan bakewell, when she monitored herself and found to her surprise that she was drinking a lot, she says, i wont change and I dont want to be told what to do... old people always say that... the old farts. when they should be told what to do, because they are like unruly kids .

it reminds me of that time in the library when a old lady left her  bag lying about. and i found out it belonged to her and i said, maybe u should keep it with you. she said 'dont tell me what to do'. and i thought ok but when it gets stolen i shall not say anything. and dont u start crying ... i shall have no sympathies for you.

i am getting old myself but i see all these old farts acting like this and i thought ha, old people, i hope i dont ever get to be like them. but guess what, i think i shall become like them.haha. i think all old people get to be like that. sometimes i am glad there is death. there are some people who have lived too long. and it would apply to me too, i would be glad to go and not live so long that i become unmanageble.

anyway joan says she wont change though she said she might go easy on the drinking... but i can see she said that without much conviction. she will continue drinking... the old lush. hhaha. she likes her drinks too much. that one.

here is the link to the bbc program for you to see. do it soon as there is a time limit for viewing.

dont get too upset if u cannot see the video in there. it is only for uk viewers, but also u wont miss much as it is not really a full program on the one shown on tv recently that is 30mins long. u can read the article which tells u all you need to know really.

Here is a real link to that program.

There has been talk of introducing a minimum price per unit of 50p in scotland, 40p in england. they say it will save 50,000 lives. i wonder how they calculate that one. i thought all it does maybe is to penalise the responsible drinkers . and i doubt it will stop people drinking, it will just put them in more debt to add to their drinking problem.

I was chatting to david about this, and i made a mention that maybe if they are allready in their 80s, (joan bakewell is said to be in her 9th decade, that is in her 80s i think) it might not matter if they drink now.

it is like a guy who smokes, no point asking him to stop if he is in his 80s now. if he had survived so long whilst smoking like a log, it wont make much difference if he stops now. haha. might as well continue to enjoy it.
