the london
I wonder what the future historians will make of our present day... what,,they will ask do ordinary people worry about?
is it the credit crunch, and the world recession and possible fear of a crash in china?
or what i shall be telling them now.
it is the price of electricity and gas. haha.
today i read that British gas(BG) is reducing the electricity price by 5% effective immediately.
so when i got back home i quickly got online and send them my electricity meter reading. that way any units i use from now on will be charged on the reduced tariff.
i noticed i have used 310kwh so far from Nov2011, that is when this quarter starts. it will end at the end of this Jan2012. that will be when i shall send them another reading.
interestingly, BG is not reducing the gas tariff. i dont use gas anymore so i dont mind about that haha.
Actually all this reduction is not really that great. they have raised the tariff by 18% in august 2011, so this 5% reduction is neither here nor there. Like supermarkets that raised their prices by 20% just to proclaim 5% reductions later and expect everyone to praise them is exactly what BG and all the other power companies are doing. they dont fool me. haha.
my strategy of keep cutting down my usage is the best strategy.
I read of the breast implant scandal with women who have been rushing to get it now rushing to have it removed. ha, people ...
i read of people going in droves to the ski resorts in austria, now desperate to get out because they are snowed in. haha. they are realising that a bit of snow is great, but that does not mean a lot is better. hahahee.
that is the story of nowadays, people rushing in and then the same people rushing out again. Silly donkeys.haha.
This morning i was on the way to the gym and was about to cross the road at victoria st. one woman just walk past the stationary cars to greet someone of the traffic island. A cyclist rushing past the stationary cars just missed her, with a loud curse. but he swerved behind her and she was all eyes on her friend and never suspect she was near death. she was quite an old lady and any collision would be fatal for her. but of course she never realised she had a close escape.
it made me realise that if ever a pedestrian gets killed, it is the pedestrian's fault. some people just dont look where they are going. and if ever a pedestrian escapes it will be solely due to the quick wits of the car , lorry or bicycle rider.
i have seen cyclists that just ride into the path of a car or lorry and it is only the quick braking that they escape death, and what is really telling is that the cyclist sails by and never see the near miss. they most probably go on thinking they are excellent cyclists. not realising they are a menace to themselves and other road users.
i am a cyclist myself and i can say if ever any cyclist gets killed it is their fault. they were just unlucky that the driver is not so quick witted and brake in time. it should not be right that cyclist expects others to avoid them and not take care, but unfortunately i have seen plenty where the cyclist seem to think they own the road and it is for others to avoid them. and what is more, they never see the near miss and blithely cycle on thinking they are the best cyclists in the world and everyone else is a bastard. haha.
