new £50 note in november (added 2011 not 2012 as i assumed)

london
I was in the gym reading the daily mail and came across this article about a new £50 note.
Correction. i found out that actually this is old news. the new £50 note came out in nov 2011. the article did not mention the year, and i assumed it will be this year 2012.
it said the old notes (issued in 1994) will be replaced by this in 2yrs time. and also tell about the security features in the new note. the online article do not mention the security features nor that it will be replaced in 2yrs time. maybe the daily mail knows that the convention is that the old notes will be replaced 2yrs from the issue of new ones.

also the queen's head water mark has a white £50 on it.
and feel the note, some marks are raised.
under uv light there is a bright 50 , and sprinkles of coloured strips scattered throughout the note. and the 5 green strips appear bright green.

On each note, the green motion thread has five windows along its length, running from the top to the bottom.

The windows contain images of the £ symbol and the number 50. When the note is tilted from side to side, the images move up and down. When the note is tilted up and down, the images move from side to side and the number 50 and the £ symbol switch.

The thread is woven into the paper, not printed on it.

that would make it hard to forge.

The new note will have the new signature of a new cashier of the bank of england, Chris Salmon.

Might be a good idea to use up the old £50 note from now on as it will be replaced.

For people overseas who may have these old £50 notes accumulated during their travels, better start using them as it wont be legal tender in 2yrs time. (though uk banks might still exchange it long after)

see this link to read another post about it.

see the new security features in a picture in this article
