I have been saying my malaysian bought razors are running out and I thought I shall have to ask john G who is visiting Malaysia in march to buy some for me there. But i happen to be visitng clapham south, to visit a shag there, and was browsing the tesco there, and guess what i found.
The razors , gillette contour plus, on sale 10 for £5.34.
There were only 3 left so i bought a pack. I had thought of not buying now but later, but seeing there is only 3 packs left I dare not risk it being sold out. It was in a special case which the cashier have to unlock. Hmm, why i wonder. It was the cheapest of all the razors there so why all the security precautions?
I am afraid i did not check out the prices of the other razors, but Paul L and Simon had told me razors are expensive so i shall take their word for it.
These razors are about 50p each which compares well with the price in malaysia. This is because the £ has dropped in value now.
I am glad it is possible to get these razors here in london. It's the first time i have seen them on sale here. and in Tesco of all places. It cannot be in all tescos, because i have not seen these in my local tesco but then i have not been looking. I daresay now i am made aware of it, i shall be seeing it on sale every tesco store. I know Boots the chemists do not stock it.

I have mentioned why no one makes a fuss about the cost of razors, and found this thread where it is discussed. in it there was mention of double edge razors, and it was the ones used when i first started shaving. But it tends to cut the skin. They are cheap though. The so called cartridge razors are the ones we all use now, and are expensive. maybe we are so glad that we dont cut our skin everytime we shave, we gladly pay the money for the cartridge razors.
A quote from the article ...'A recent Which? survey praised Gillette's products but gave a 'Best Buy' rating to the King of Shaves Razor. Its four cartridge refill pack comes in at a much cheaper £4.88. Tesco's Matrix system, which has a triple blade head, has also won plaudits. A four cartridge refill costs only £2.20.'

hi Anthony, the article hit the nail on its head, telling us the mark up can be up to 470% on razor heads. confirms what we suspected all along i.e. that they are much cheaper in the m'sian and US markets. Paul L
i was at my pimlico tesco and checked out the prices. the article said tesco matrix is £2.20 for 4cartridges, but it made a mistake. my tesco was selling it for £8.00 for 4cartridges. i knew nothing can be as cheap as the contour plus that i use.
