london
Life is very nice.
I walked to the weekend gym at about 10am. It's the branch which opens on weekends. The receptionist was ok with letting me use the gym even though i haven't got a membership card.
this branch is even smaller than the weekday gym. I had a nice workout as there were not many people about, and the equipment was available for my sole use.
Did some yoga and stretch on the mat to finish, and a nice sauna session.I can see allready I will enjoy these morning workouts. It refreshes me for the rest of the day. I stayed behind to read the daily mail, which is the free newspaper provided.
Then, after my lunch at my flat, I walked to chinatown, to meet with my friends after their dim sum lunch. I did not want to eat dim sum but wanted to join them, so i said i shall join them at the end of their lunch. I timed it rather well, getting to the restaurant when they have just finished.
then we walked to soho, old compton st and had coffee at costa there. It was like old times, chatting away with friends. then we wandered around soho, walked to carnaby street, and had tea, (not me as i was not thirsty) at a enclosed square hidden away. That was where I saw those brightly coloured cupcakes, that in a tv program about charity shops, mary portas sold them for £1.50 each at a local market. Here, they were priced at £2.60.Mary portas and her charity workers sold £500 worth that day. I wonder how much she bought them for. These muffin like cakes are really very high profit snacks. They are really easy to make and are mainly flour, so they must be v cheap to make. The icing is garishly coloured which makes them attractive to children i suppose.
It was a very pleasant way to spend a lazy sunday afternoon. Afterwards i walked back via the south bank. it is a really shorter route than the usual route i take via st james park. I will take this route more often from now on, if i want to go to chinatown. (I had another look at the map, it does not look that much shorter, so maybe it only appears shorter to me. Maybe there is not much difference, but just different views, the river view is a nice change from the park view and it just provides a different aspect. Most probably, it is the same length.)
I noticed the gingko biloba trees in gerrard st are now in full leave. and there are 4of these trees. Then walking to carnaby st, i see another 3 trees there. So anyone wanting biloba tea can readily get a supply of leaves from these trees. The leaves are huge.
i wonder how easy it is to dry them and store them for winter.
I think i prefer tea from dried leaves.
