london
the telegraph is giving away voucher for free innocent smoothies in tesco, and the times is giving away vouchers for free fruit drinks and a slice of cake in M&S. The telegraph is a friday only, whilst the Times has been running the M&S voucher for the whole week, with today being the last day and a extra cake added.
Now that is why i like being in london. I saw this offer in the Times when i was with David, but there is no M&S store near him. And the tesco is a two bus ride away.
I got the drink and cake from M&S after my gym workout. It does not require any purchase, which makes it a genuine free offer. It's nice to drink when free, though I dont like very sweet drinks so it wont make me buy any. My local gym has soft drinks that are not so sweet and so much nicer to drink. But I hope other people buy it, so that M&S makes profits and encourage them to make more of these free offers in future.
The tesco innocent offer is limited to the stores that stock the 250ml bottle. My local tesco stocks only the 1litre ones. Anyway whilst i was there, i saw £2 (1.4kg) chickens on sale. I am glad they are bringing £2 chickens back. (It's a good bargain because their normal 1.5kg chickens are sold for £4.)So i bought one and it is now cooking as a curry. I have not read this advertised so i think Tesco do not advertise these for fear of being criticised for it.
A funny thing happened when i tried to redeem the tesco innocent offer. I forgot and went to the sainsburys, and picked up a nice innocent drink, mango and goji and it was only at the pay counter that the assistant told me it was for tesco... and not sainsburys. haha. i had a laugh and the sales assistant was very nice about it. Most people would be embarrassed but I just find it very funny. I am so absent minded when it comes to these things.
Last night the local sainsbury was selling off their butcher brand of 8pork sausages for 35p. I bought 4 packs and froze them. (Today, i see another branch selling it for 99p, they are £1.99 usually; I just now cooked the ones i bought last night, and i dont think they are worth the original price. At 35p they are just barely worth it.)I bought a large tub of strawberry trifle for 45p too. A good bargain. That is another thing about living in london. So many of these reduced offers. I am looking out for mince beef or pork sold for 40p. or even 60p. Not many of those nowadays. I discovered that to get bargains now, I have to go around 8.30pm when they start reducing. And u have to give them the pack or they wont reduce it. The other shoppers were more savvy and goes round picking up packs with today's date and then when they see the guy coming round with his reducing price gun they approach him with it. So they were able to get prawns for 40p.
I like this modern equivalent of hunter gatherer. haha. you can live very well for very little money in this urban jungle, if u know ur way around it.
And another thing, I was wondering around and did not have hay fever, even though it was warm. Being in the middle of the city seems to reduce the pollen in the air. The countryside is really not a good place for hay fever sufferers but being in the middle of london seems to be pollen free.
